Aluminium or faux wood Venetian blinds — how do you choose?

Aluminium venetians are lightweight, slim-profiled, and modern. Faux wood venetians are broader, warmer in appearance, and feel closer to genuine timber. The right choice depends on the room.

In kitchens and bathrooms, aluminium tends to perform best. The slats are waterproof, wipe clean effortlessly, and resist warping in humid conditions. Their slimmer profile also suits compact windows where a bulkier blind would look disproportionate.

In living rooms and bedrooms, faux wood often makes a stronger visual statement. The wider slats lend a more substantial character, particularly on larger windows. Faux wood also provides better insulation than aluminium owing to its denser construction.

Faux wood holds one clear advantage over real timber: it tolerates moisture without warping. This makes it an intelligent compromise if you want the warmth of wood in a space where genuine timber would deteriorate.

Regarding cost, aluminium is the more affordable option. Faux wood sits between aluminium and real timber. Genuine hardwood commands the highest price point.

Both types are offered in an extensive range of finishes. Aluminium spans metallic and matte options. Faux wood includes painted surfaces and grain effects that convincingly replicate oak, walnut, or white-stained timber.

We carry both and can bring samples to your home. Measuring and fitting is complimentary.
