What blinds work best with bi-fold doors?
Perfect Fit blinds are the strongest option for bi-fold doors. Each blind panel is mounted directly into the door leaf, so when the doors fold open, the blinds fold with them. Nothing obstructs the opening.
The key advantage is that no drilling is required. The blinds clip into the uPVC frame beading of each door panel. This preserves the manufacturer's warranty and avoids weakening the frame with screw holes.
Pleated and roller styles are both available in Perfect Fit for bi-folds. Pleated blinds produce a neater stack when raised. Roller blinds offer a slightly wider selection of blackout and patterned fabrics.
Integral blinds are an alternative — the blind sits between two sealed panes of glass within the door unit. They are maintenance-free and fully child-safe, but must be specified at the point of manufacture. They cannot be retrofitted.
Vertical blinds are occasionally used, but they only function when the doors are closed. When the doors fold open, the vertical blind remains on its own track, partially blocking the opening.
For seamless daily use, Perfect Fit is the clear winner. The blinds move with the doors, stay out of the way when open, and present a clean line when closed.
We fit blinds on bi-fold doors of any configuration. Measuring and fitting is complimentary.
