What are the best blinds for kitchens and bathrooms?

Kitchens and bathrooms demand blinds that withstand moisture, steam, and occasional splashes. The three strongest options are moisture-resistant roller blinds, faux wood venetians, and aluminium venetians.

Moisture-resistant roller blinds feature a PVC or polyester coating that repels water. They wipe clean with a damp cloth and resist mould and mildew. A lighter colour brightens the room and is less prone to showing water marks.

Faux wood venetian blinds replicate the appearance of real timber but are manufactured from a composite that will not warp or crack under humid conditions. They are an intelligent choice if you want a warm, organic aesthetic in a bathroom.

Aluminium venetian blinds are the most utilitarian option for kitchens, especially near cooking surfaces. They are non-flammable, wipe clean instantly, and come in slim profiles that suit smaller kitchen windows.

Avoid genuine wood blinds in bathrooms. Moisture causes them to swell, warp, and eventually split. Fabric Roman blinds are also risky in wet rooms unless ventilation is exceptionally good.
